Pl[a]in Sud with Adel Salameh will tour in Fall 2007.
The Pl[a]in Sud project associates La Tribu Hérisson jazz collective and a traditional arab folk musician.
The first step of this collaboration with the oud (luth) player Khaled Ben Yahia gave birth to the recording of the Pl[a]in Sud album. From then on, La La Tribu Hérisson got to work with other celebrities, such as the world reknoned oud player from Palestine, Adel Salameh.
This quintet’s work is a patchwork of Arabic-Andalusian tradition and modern occidental musics (jazz, electro-acoustic, improvisation and contemporary musics). The essence of this project lies on the bond between the two cultures, far apart yet close from their roots.
These two different instrumental voices combined with an electro-acoustic multiply the sound wealth. Original compositions by Pl[a]in Sud openly vary from solos to tutti, leaving room for improvisation as well as an openness for each musician’s expression.
Energetic or intimist, rich or bare, music by Pl[a]in Sud invites its audience to a contrasted path like a musical suite.
